GKIDS FEBRUARY UPDATE

Dear Parents,
We hope this update finds you well and that you are well informed about the super-amazing things happening in this special area of ministry. It has been a real joy for us to take on the Kid's Ministry at Generations recently and we are looking forward to great things this year!  In this update you will find a range of announcements, updates and highlights that we would like to notify you about. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us for a chat.

Also, thank you to the families who were represented at the Parents Lunch last Sunday. It was a real joy to share some vision and strategy with you and to hear feedback from parents about the direction of GKIDS. We hope to have another Parents Lunch in Term 3 to share some highlights with you and to continually strategise together on how we can raise up the next generation together.

We've had such a fantastic time getting to know the children in our church over the last couple of months. Some of the highlights are shown in the photos and updates below.

HIGHLIGHTS

GKIDS SUMMER HOLIDAY PROGRAM

This year in January, we held a jam-packed Summer Holiday Program. It was a huge delight to keep our kids connected during the holidays and for new and existing leaders to get to know our kids a bit more by engaging in a range of activities from a cinema experience to a summer splash, then a talent show (which was a real hit amongst the kids apparently!) followed by a “tribal wars” games day. We are really looking forward to planning for the next school holidays also!

SUMMER DAY

We had an awesome SUMMER DAY with everyone during the school holidays. It was great to have over 50 people attend. We are looking at how we can make SUMMER DAY better and bigger next year!

NEW PROGRAMS IN PRE-SCHOOL & PRIMARY

Last Sunday we kicked off our new program for the primary and pre-school rooms. This Term, children will be learning about “Man, Miracles, Messiah” which covers the deity, life, miracles and finished work of Jesus Christ. We’ve tailored the program to include some material from the Hillsong BIG program including lots of games, praise and worship, snacks and ministry time in both rooms. The program caters for all learning styles whilst building on the different gifts, talents and abilities of all children. At the end of Term 1, we will be holding a service in Kids Church where children will be able to serve each other in various ways such as worship, hospitality, speaking, hosting and in other ways. We are really looking forward to this!

THANK YOU

We would like to thank everyone who supported our GKIDS ice-cream fundraiser two weeks ago! We were able to raise approx. $853.00 to contribute to our room programs this term. We have such a generous church. We will let you know about our Term 2 fundraiser!

GKIDS TEAM UPDATE

Two weeks ago our team met for training around safe check-ins, the SMS system for texting parents and the new program for both rooms. The team were really excited about the changes and the strategy of GKIDS this year. The GKIDS team will have training each term to ensure that we are bringing our best to all of our amazing children. Also, keep an eye out for our blue shirts! All of our team will be wearing shirts on a Sunday. This makes it easy for children and parents to locate and identify those who are GKIDS leaders.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAISE PARTY

On Thursday 23rd March at 4:30PM we are holding a Praise Party for all of our primary kids (and any of their friends). The praise party will be an opportunity for children to gather with all of the primary kids in our church in an environment of praise and worship and to hear the Word of God. We have special guest Ps Todd Werner coming to preach! Dinner will be provided. It is going to be EPIC! We hope to see our primary kids there (and any friends that they want to bring along).

LEADERS RETREAT

From Friday 14th-16th April, we are holding a leaders retreat. This is for all of our GKIDS, GYOUTH and GYA leaders, junior leaders and key team. We are also looking forward to hosting Ps Alun and Joan Davies who will be speaking all things leadership with our team. The Retreat will be free to all team members and will involve lots of team building exercises. Please be praying for us as we gather to build into the team for the future of GKIDS.

WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO GKIDS

  1. Church attendance as a family (the more we see your child, the more we can invest into them)

  2. Join the GKIDS team! Most of our team are now serving twice a term. We’d love for parents to join the team! If you’re keen to be part of our new CRECHE team set up - Please let us know also.

  3. Be a Check-in Host - If you’re not confident or comfortable being in a room, you can be on the “check-in desk” twice a term. This means you still get to be in the service once check-in is completed.

  4. Giving financially - giving financially is another way to sow into the GKIDS Strategy this year. You can do this by specifying your one off offering online (by adding GKIDS offering into the description).

  5. Shopping - we have a need for someone who is a super-shopper to gather all our supplies and resources each term. Someone who can get the bargins! Someone who has two days to spare each term!

  6. Prayer - We’d appreciate your prayers as our team continues to seek to bring excellence and consistency to this very important area of church life.
